MARIA MONTESSORI

Maria Montessori was born in 1870 in Alcona, Italy She studied science, becoming the first female physician in Italy. She begins to work with a poor people and she saw the big potential that had the children. But she saw too how this intelligence was uncommonly tapped.
After, Montessori was appointed director of a branch of the University of Rome, and there she works with deficient and insane children. Montessori drew on the studies of the Wild Boy de Aveyron who was found in a forest in 1800 and his child doesn’t have relations with any person for ten years. So the doctor Jean Itard who studied this case said that this child can`t talked and with other people tried thought some but the child don´t learned nothing.
With this investigation Montessori said that the children have learning periods and if the teachers or tutors, don`t use this periods after for the child learn will be more hard. Besides she show that if the child don`t have a good place for work he hasn`t how learn. So that Montessori had carpenters build the first ever child sized school chairs and desks to make them comfortable for learning.
And created seating areas on the floor with rugs and pillows where the kids done different activities.
In the actuality every discoveries are used around the world, besides she create a lot of didactic material and Montessori's methods have been repeatedly supported by research into child development.
